Brooklyn, NY: Cesar Sala ended Satish Jagnandan’s reign at four years in the National One-Wall singles, holding off furious charges at the end of both games for the title, 20, 10.

Sala rallied to force a tiebreaker in the open doubles against Willie Polanco and Pee Wee Castro but he and Joe Kaplan came just short of the slam, losing 11-9 in the tiebreaker.

Tracy Davis completed a slam in the women’s events, teaming with Theresa McCourt to avenge last month’s loss to Maggie Crespo and Lori Acevedo.

Josh Garcia, a talented teenager, pulled off a slam in the C singles and doubles with non-relative Ariel Garcia as his partner and final singles opponent.

Graham Palmore did the same in the 65s with Tom Vitale as his partner.

Dave Sheldon/Mike Lipman versus Jason Morgan/Dwayne Sampson

Cedar Creek Park has been part of the county park system since 1975 and is located in the southeast part of Nassau County, in Seaford. For handball players this 259-acre park offers twelve courts equally shared with paddleball players. During the warm season the six courts used by handball players draws some of the best tournament players on the Island.

The first annual 35 plus Invitational small ball doubles was held at Cedar Creek Park in Seaford NY.

The finals pitted Dave Sheldon/Mike Lipman versus Jason Morgan/Dwayne Sampson. Dave and Mike cruised to a 9-2 lead. Jason and Dwayne came roaring back taking a 12-11 lead. We’re hoping that some of you will contribute to this site by sending us a photo or two with a blurb describing the event and/or tournament. E-mail contact : ronald611@optonline.net

Three great USHA players reunite at the 2007 Masters Tournament in Brooklyn. Can you name the Hall of Fame players?

Charlie Danilczy, the gentleman without a shirt at the 2007 tournament, submitted this wonderful photo of himself (center stage without a shirt ) playing with Harry Goldstein against Morty Alexander and his partner at Brighton Beach Baths in 1948. Charlie said he won that game. I have no doubts since he has been honored by the USHA as a National Champion in the Hall of Fame. Also, did you notice that Charlie is wearing black shorts with the white side stripe in both pictures? Hmmm.
